What is Measles?
And how can we protect ourselves?
Measles is one of the most contagious viruses in the world.

When someone with measles coughs or sneezes, the virus stays in the air.

If one person has measles, most people around them who aren’t protected will get it too.

People can catch measles up to two hours after someone with measles leaves the room.
Measles often starts like a cold:
Fever
Cough
Runny Nose
Then a rash appears on the face
... and spreads down the body.
Measles can be serious, especially for babies and young children.
It can cause lung infections, swelling of the brain, and sometimes even death.
Measles spreads fast but it can be stopped.

Vaccination provides the best protection for you and your family.

The measles vaccine, also known as the MMR vaccine is safe and very effective.

Two doses of the measles vaccine provide lifetime protection for most people.
When we all get the measles vaccine, we help protect everyone.
